Rory McIlroy is golf's second $100 million man.
McIlroy's tie for fifth in the Texas Children's Houston Open on March 30 gave him $337,843 and increased his career PGA Tour earnings to $100,046,906. Only Tiger Woods ($120,999,166) has more.
McIlroy only needed to earn $46,906 to reach $100 million and would have had that with a tie for 32nd or better. He also passed $9 million in earnings for the season, most of which he earned at two of the biggest purses of the season, winning The Players Championship ($4.5 million) and the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am ($3.6 million), a PGA Tour Signature Event.
Min Woo Lee reaches more modest career goals
Min Woo Lee’s victory at the Houston Open earned him $1,710,000, which enabled him to reach several milestones.
He got a bump from 54th to 16th on this week’s money list and now has $2,658,736. That enabled him to surpass $1 million and $2 million in earnings this season.
Lee also surpassed his earnings for 2024. He was 68th on the money list last year with $2,611,021.
Aside from Lee, the player who moved to the highest position on the money list at Houston was Scottie Scheffler, who tied for second with Gary Woodland and moved from 16th to 10th with $845,500 to put him at $3,341,197.
Woodland, who was 94th in earnings entering the week, is now 47th with a bit more than $1.26 million.
There was no change in position among the top nine on the money list entering the week.
Who became millionaires?
In addition to Lee and Woodland, two other notable players passed $1 million in earnings in the Houston Open, Wyndham Clark ($337,843) and Eric Cole ($163,875).
Clark is 52nd in earnings with $1,107,630 and Cole is 58th with $1,001,218.
