New England Patriots center Garrett Bradbury already has a previous connection established with second-year quarterback Drake Maye.
And it isn't something you'd expect.
Bradbury’s brother-in-law played baseball with Maye’s brother. So there was already a push for the former Minnesota Vikings center to sign with the Patriots when he became a free agent.
And Bradbury did just that, inking a two-year, $9.5 million contract with the Patriots, including $3.8 million in guaranteed money. According to the veteran offensive lineman, he has already engaged in some competitive ping pong with Maye.
"I love Drake so far," said Bradbury, when speaking with media members.

Bradbury has large shoes to fill after the team split with longtime center David Andrews. However, he's expected to have some competition with Jake Andrews, Ben Brown and even Cole Strange vying for the starting job.
Protecting Maye consistently is something the Patriots failed to do last season. There's hope that a veteran like Bradbury can help round out the offensive line depth to a point where it's more competitive in 2025.
