Texas A&M's 2026 recruiting class is slowly but surely building toward earning another top 5 finish in the national rankings, as head coach Mike Elko has made substantial progress with several defensive prospects, including four-star linebacker Tank King, who is set to return to College Station in early June.
While Elko is entering just his second season as the Aggies' head coach, his four-year career as Texas A&M's defensive coordinator was also built around elite recruiting, especially at linebacker, after bringing current Green Bay Packers star Edgerrin Cooper to College Station. King, who has continued to rise in the rankings, will make his final commitment decision on July 4 before taking an official visit to College Station on June 5.
However, King will also take official visits to Texas (June 13) and Notre Dame (June 20), two teams the Aggies will compete with down the stretch before his commitment. On the field, King's vision and athleticism are seen on the film, showing a player with the strength to plug the gaps and the sideline-to-sideline speed to track down running backs to prevent quarterbacks from making plays out of structure.
During his 2024 junior season at Memorial High School in Port Arthur, Texas, King recorded 141 tackles, three sacks, 23 tackles for loss, and two forced fumbles. While King's sack number decreased after recording eight in 2023, his pass rush potential is notable at the next level.
