No. 2 Oklahoma Sooners beat UCF Knights 6-0 for third straight win

The No. 2 Oklahoma Sooners needed the weekend they've had so far at Love's Field. On Friday, the Sooners beat former Big 12 foe UCF, 6-0, to win their third straight game.

Oklahoma lost its first series at home in over a decade last weekend when Tennessee came to Norman and took two of three games. The Sooners had this Thursday through Saturday off from SEC play and played in the Okana Invitational at home. After beating St. Thomas on Thursday, OU followed that up with a shutout against the Knights.

It came relatively easily, as Oklahoma allowed just three base-runners over seven innings in the win. Starter Sam Landry picked up her 11th win of the season, working 4 2/3 innings, giving up three hits while striking out four. It was plenty of good work, as teammates quickly staked her to a lead.

Isabela Emerling hit an RBI double, and she later scored on a rundown in the second inning to open a 2-0 lead. In the next frame, OU plated four more as Ella Parker's grand slam cleared the bases and ensured the Sooners' victory. It was Parker's sixth home home run of the season but just her second long ball since March 1.

Emerling joined Nelly McEnroe-Marinas, Gabbie Garcia, Kasidi Pickering, and Hannah Coor with two hits apiece for the Sooners.

Oklahoma, which is now 34-3 overall, will play Oklahoma State on Wednesday in Oklahoma City for a nonconference Bedlam affair after Saturday's matchup with UCF was canceled due to weather.
