Newmarket High School senior Kierra Souphakhot is the Seacoast Preseason Softball Player of the Year, as voted by the Seacoast community. The poll is presented by York County Community College as part of the Athletes of the Week program.
Souphakhot received 1,234 votes for 23% of the total votes, earning the Preseason Player of the Year honors. Portsmouth junior outfielder Laura Milks placed second with 22% of the vote
Oyster River junior shortstop Katie Michaud (12%), Somersworth sophomore shortstop/pitcher Kylie Pettengill (8%) and Winnacunnet High School junior catcher Maeva Shapiro (5%) was fifth.

Souphakhot struck out 196 batters and had a 0.61 ERA over 91 2/3 innings last season, leading the Mules to the Division IV championship game. She was named Division IV Pitcher of the Year.
"Congrats to Kierra, well deserved," Newmarket head coach Todd Berry said. "She's the backbone of the team, and looking forward to seeing her exceed expectations this year."
