Vote now: Who is Seacoast Preseason Softball Player of the Year?

We are approaching the 2025 high school softball season in Seacoast New Hampshire and southern Maine. Players and teams are poised to showcase their talents.

One player from each of the 13 Seacoast-area high schools has been nominated by their coaches for Seacoast Preseason Softball Player of the Year, presented by York County Community College as part of the Athletes of the Week program.

How do I cast my vote?

Voting can be completed through the ballot below. Voting closes midnight Thursday, April 3.

How do we learn who wins?

The winner will be announced in a story published Friday, April 4 at seacoastonline.com/sports and fosters.com/sports.

Who are the nominees?

Avery Allard, Exeter High School, senior, outfielder

Avery Allard

Allard, a three-year starter for the Blue Hawks, had 21 hits, 10 RBIs and scored 15 runs last season.

Eliza Arwood, Portsmouth Christian Academy, sophomore, catcher

Eliza Arwood

Arwood earned Division IV all-state second-team honors last year for the Eagles as a freshman, and PCA head coach Mark McGuire expects a batting average north of .400 and four or five home runs this season. 

Elizabeth Cook, Dover High School, senior, catcher/infield

Elizabeth Cook

Cook batted .571 last season with three home runs and on-base percentage of .618.

Maddie Fitzgerald, York High School, junior, first base/outfield

Maddie Fitzgerald

Fitzgerald was a Western Maine Conference first-team selection last season, batting .635 with four home runs, 34 RBIs and 14 stolen bases. 

Abbie Gaynor, St. Thomas Aquinas, senior, pitcher

Abbie Gaynor

Gaynor had a 17-2 record with a 1.42 ERA, striking out 154 batters in 94 innings last season. She batted .400 with nine home runs with 21 RBIs and scored 35 runs.
