New York Giants select OL with 'elite testing numbers' in latest CBS Sports mock

Most recent mock drafts for the New York Giants have followed a very specific theme: Staying put at No. 3 overall and selecting Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders.

It's a consensus that's become redundant and rather boring, even if there is a high probability of it happening. But Chris Trapasso of CBS Sports bucked that trend in his latest mock draft, having the Giants pass over Sanders in favor of a new offensive tackle -- one with "elite testing scores."

Round 1, Pick 3: Armand Membou, OT, Missouri
Whoever is eventually the starter for the Giants in 2025 will need to be better protected than past quarterbacks in the Brian Daboll era. Membou is a powerful blocker with elite testing numbers.

Some view Membou as OT1 over Will Campbell but that is not a universal opinion. Either way, the 6-foot-4, 332-pound Lee's Summit native is viewed as a Day 1 starter and a plus-player after two years of development.

NFL Network's Lance Zierlein gives Membou an NFL comparison of Zach Tom.

Young, talented prospect whose lack of NFL-tackle size will test teams’ willingness to make exceptions to their standards. Membou plays with composed quickness and elite body control. He delivers good pop on contact and has the range to spring runs with blocks in space. Footwork and core strength fuel stick-block sustain, but he can be outreached by edge-setters. His pass sets are technically sound, and he processes twists and blitzes quickly. Membou plays with a varied pass-set strategy and crafty hands to stymie rush momentum, but teams will have to live with long-armed rushers collapsing the pocket on him at times. Hands and feet work in unison to mirror speed and edge-to-edge rush challenges. He’s still growing into his frame but his game boasts unusual maturity. Membou’s potential impact at a premium position should keep him at tackle, but he has outstanding potential regardless.

Although Membou would represent an immediate upgrade, allowing Jermaine Eluemunor to shift back inside, it's hard to envision the Giants passing over dual-threat star Travis Hunter in this scenario, especially if they were content on passing on Sanders as well.
