Even though Milan and Fabio Paratici were seemingly on the verge of shaking hands, it’s not so sure the hiring will indeed happen. The contract clauses and his disqualification have proven to be big obstacles once the negotiation moved to the formalities, Calciomercato informs.
The Rossoneri are reflecting on whether to go through. They have resumed evaluating other candidates. The director wouldn’t be able to concretely operate until July 20th due to the multi-year suspension deriving from his time at Juventus.
Milan would consider especially Igli Tare, who’s out of contract and had already met with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and Atalanta’s Tony D’Amico if things didn’t work out with Paratici. Napoli’s Giovanni Manna is a distant third. It’ll be tough to convince Aurelio De Laurentiis to let him go.
According to Alfredo Pedullà, the Rossoneri had reservations from the get-go, and the appointment was never a sure thing. The Bergamaschi exec would gain stream if the owner somehow managed to convince Gian Piero Gasperini to change his mind and renew his contract. Depending on who the director is, Maurizio Sarri could emerge as a real option for the bench.
Our Take on Milan and Paratici
It looks like somebody jumped the gun, as these issues aren’t new. Perhaps the divergences lie elsewhere, maybe in the division of the front office tasks. We’ll see whether they’ll hire somebody else or if it’s just a strategic stoppage to put pressure on him or even a workaround. Nobody prohibits them from simply using him as a consultant until July and formally onboarding him only afterward. It would spare them some troubles and awkwardness.
