“Mentality monster” is “further along than Salah” says his personal coach – Maresca may not agree

Football.London did an interesting piece today speaking with Noni Madueke’s private coach.

He couldn’t have been more positive about his client, and even went as far as to point out that the former PSV winger is ahead of where Mo Salah was at the same age. He’s confident that Madueke can continue improving and one day be seen on the same level as the Liverpool ace:

“You have to recognise, though, Noni is further along on his journey than Salah was at the same age. Saying that, Noni knows that if he continues to work hard then he could and should be recognised as one of the world’s best down the line,” Saul Isaksson-Hurst said of the 23 year old.

“I can only talk about my experience with Noni and I’ve said it many times before, I’ve never come across a more hard working and determined individual. This guy is a mentality monster.”

Well to be fair, you would say that – that’s your boss. Meanwhile one of our other primary sources on Madueke’s work rate, Enzo Maresca, would not necessarily agree.

The manager dropped his winger when Chelsea faced Aston Villa back in December, and then left him out of the squad against Fulham later that month. The Italian coach quite openly admitted that this was because he was disappointed with the winger’s attitude in training and his lack of killer instinct and focus on the pitch once his team were leading or he had himself a goal.

We’ve really missed Madueke’s direct style in his recent injury absence, and after this international break he has the perfect chance to come in and remind us of what we’ve all been missing.

Knowing him, he will have spent this time out hurt improving some other aspect of his game.
