Meadville volleyball wins local tournament
The Meadville boys volleyball team took home the top spot at its own Meadville Tournament on Saturday at The House of Thrills.
The Bulldogs finished 10-0 in pool play. In the gold bracket, Meadville beat McDowell 25-15, Northeastern 25-20 and then topped Mars 25-12 in the title. The ‘Dogs had a plus-84 point differential in pool play and didn’t drop a set all day (13-0).
Saegertown and Conneaut were each 8-2 in pool play. Each team split against each other and Fort LeBoeuf, including Conneaut’s 36-34 win over the Bison. Saegertown and Conneaut each lost in the first round of the gold bracket.
Cochranton was 2-8 in pool play and lost the silver bracket championship to Moon.
Maplewood was 1-9 in pool play with its lone win against Moon. The Tigers lost to Cochranton in the first round of the silver bracket. Cambridge Springs was 0-10 on the day and lost to Moon in the silver bracket.
Puleio places second
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Meadville junior Megan Puleio competed at the ADIDAS Track National meet in Virginia Beach, Virginia, on Saturday and came home with a silver medal.
Puleio placed second in the 800-meter run with a time of 2 minutes and 13.37 seconds. Puleio is the Meadville program record holder in the 800.
Maplewood goes 2-0
SPARTA, N.C. — The Maplewood baseball team beat Allegheny High School, of Sparta, North Carolina, 3-1 on Friday and 7-5 on Saturday, as part of Maplewood’s spring trip.
Chase Koelle had 10 strikeouts in Friday’s game and no earned runs. Koelle and Landyn Reynolds each had two hits.
On Saturday, Reynolds, Kyle Jordan and Levi Willison combined for eight strikeouts and seven hits allowed. Jordan, AJ Proper and Elijah Hochstetler each had a double.
Maplewood is 2-0 and is scheduled to host Cranberry on Wednesday.

Titusville tops Warren 14-13
TITUSVILLE — The Titusville baseball rallied with five seventh-inning runs to top Warren 14-13 on Friday at the Ed Myer Complex.
Jaxon Covell was 4-for-4 with four doubles to lead the Rockets’ offense. Brett Schmidt, Ian McDonald, Kameron Mong, Hunter Obert and Blake Schmidt each had multiple hits. Titusville out-hit Warren 17-6.
The winning run came on a Jackson Oviatt RBI single to score Schmidt from third.
Covell got the win on the mound with three strikeouts and one hit in 2 and a half innings.
Titusville is 2-0 and is scheduled to play Corry today at home.
