March Madness predictions: Dick Vitale projects Michigan-Michigan State Elite Eight game

March Madness is here, baby!

The single-most important month in the college basketball calendar is here, and both of Dusty May's Michigan and Tom Izzo's Michigan State teams are hoping for a deep run. That's certainly plausible for both teams, as the Spartans and Wolverines split the Big Ten regular season- and conference tournament championship, respectively.

But, who is projected to go further in the 2025 men's NCAA Tournament?

Look no further than Dick Vitale. The beloved college basketball broadcaster made his full picks for the tournament on Tuesday, including a third meeting between Michigan and Michigan State in the Elite Eight.Here's how he picks both teams to eventually meet in the Elite Eight:

Michigan State path to Elite Eight

  • Round 1: (2) Michigan State beats (15) Bryant
  • Round 2: (2) Michigan State beats (7) Marquette
  • Sweet 16: (2) Michigan State beats (3) Iowa State

Michigan path to Elite Eight

  • Round 1: (5) Michigan beats (12) UC San Diego
  • Round 2: (5) Michigan beats (4) Texas A&M
  • Sweet 16: (5) Michigan beats (1) Auburn

Michigan State vs Michigan prediction

Ultimately, Vitale picked Michigan State to complete the sweep of the Wolverines, downing them in the Elite Eight and moving on to face Florida in the Final Four. Wrote Vitale: "A rivalry game with a Final Four trip on the line? Are you serious? Sparty wins the battle of Michigan."

Vitale projcted the Spartans' victory to be short-lived, however, with Florida beating Izzo and Co. to advance to the national title game.

There, of course, he has Duke winning the whole thing.
