Dedan Thomas, the No. 8 prospect in the transfer portal, committed to LSU men's basketball on Monday, according to On3's Joe Tipton.
The six-foot-one sophomore played his first collegiate season at UNLV and chose the Tigers over Kentucky,Florida and Syracuse. He averaged 15.6 points and 4.7 assists per game.
Thomas was the second transfer to pick LSU on Monday. He follows former Mississippi State forward Mike Nwoko after a visit to Baton Rouge last week. The pair will prepare to lead head coach Matt McMahon's team in the country's most competitive basketball conference.
Thomas was the No. 35 overall recruit in the 2023 cycle, according to On3's Industry Rankings. He ranked as the ninth point guard and the top player out of Nevada. As a transfer, he is the No. 3 point guard.
After a disappointing 2024-25 season with a 14-18 record, it appears LSU made a serious commitment to retooling its roster. The addition of Thomas adds size and versatility to a backcourt that lacked a facilitator.
