LSU baseball crushes in-state rival Louisiana-Lafayette

How do you respond to a disappointing conference series loss to Texas? LSU baseball responded by putting a 17-piece on Louisiana-Lafayette. LSU fans view Louisiana at "Little Brother."

That looked to be the case on Tuesday night.

Jaden Noot got the start on the mound and the Cajuns were able to score a run on him in the top of the first inning to take an early lead.

In the bottom of the first inning, the LSU bats caught fire as the Tigers scored nine runs. Danny Dickinson hit a ground rule double for an RBI, Ethan Frey hit a two-RBI double, Cade Arrambide hit a two-run homer, and Jared Jones hit a grand slam to give LSU a 9-1 lead.

ULL attempted to claw their way back into the game and scored three runs between the second and fourth innings to cut the Tigers' lead down to 9-4.

Noot was pulled from the game after three innings of work where he gave up two runs on five hits, two strikeouts, and zero walks.

William Schmidt entered to pitch for LSU and the other two runs were scored against him. In the bottom of the fourth inning, LSU loaded the bases and Michael Braswell III was hit by a pitch to score another run and extend the lead to 10-4.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, LSU scored five runs as Stephen Milam hit an RBI single, Arrambide hit an RBI single, Chris Stanfield was hit with bases loaded, Derek Curiel was walked with bases loaded, and Jones walked to increase the lead to 15-4.

Connor Benge entered and pitched to one hitter before being pulled from the game for Chandler Dorsey.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Tanner Reaves joined in on the fun as he hit a two-run shot to increase the lead to 17-4. ULL could not score any runs in the seventh to keep them in the game which means that LSU won via run rule.

With the win, LSU improves to 23-3 on the season. The Tigers will be back home this weekend as they host Mississippi State. Game One will be Friday night with the first pitch scheduled for 7 PM.
