Aidan Hutchinson looks close to being 100 percent, giving the Lions their star back at the EDGE position. But more help is always appreciated at that spot and that’s the direction we see the Lions go in the latest mock draft at CBS from Tom Fornelli.
Fornelli sends Boston College defensive end Donovan Ezeiruaku to the Lions with the 28th pick in the first round. Ezeiruaku was one of the most productive defensive ends in the nation in 2024.
Ezeiruaku’s 16.5 sacks were second only to the 17 posted by Mike Green of Marshall, who could potentially be taken in the top half of the first round.
“Not impossible the Lions go after Tyler Booker or their favorite remaining interior OL, but a bookend to Aidan Hutchinson remains a priority. Ezeiruaku is a high-moter player who was very productive at Boston College, and those are traits the Lions seem to prioritize.”
Interior offensive line is very much in play as well as the Lions will look to add competition for Christian Mahogany and Kayode Awosika. But in a division with Jordan Love, Caleb Williams and J.J. McCarthy, getting to the quarterback continues to be extremely important for Detroit. Getting the nation’s runner-up in sacks last season and pairing him with Aidan Hutchinson would be a huge boost.
