Lazio will miss the services of pivotal defender Alessio Romagnoli in the Serie A contest against Atalanta on Sunday.

Marco Baroni’s men travelled to Bergamo on Saturday ahead of what will be the first of several crucial contests for the Aquile. But according to La Lazio Siamo Noi, Romagnoli was left in Rome as he’s currently dealing with a bout of flu, thus forcing the manager to change his plans at the back.
Samuel Gigot to Step Up
The 30-year-old was expected to reconnect with Mario Gila at the heart of the backline, but Baroni will now resort to Samuel Gigot who will earn his second start in a row, albeit with a new defensive partner. It should also be noted that Patric is ruled out of action for the rest of the season after undergoing surgery, so Oliver Provstgaard will be the only centre-back on the bench.

Romagnoli will certainly be missed at the back, as he’s been one of the club’s most reliable players this season. The former Milan captain made 34 appearances in all competitions this term, scoring four goals in the process, including three in consecutive fixtures.
