Kirby Smart's coaching record entering 2025
Georgia Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smart is 105-19 through his first nine seasons as the head coach at UGA. Smart has won a pair of national titles (2021 and 2022) and three SEC championships (2017, 2022 and 2024).
Ahead of the 2025 NFL draft, Smart has had 17 players be selected as first-round picks. If three Bulldogs go in the first-round of the upcoming draft, then Smart will have more first-round picks than losses during his time at Georgia.
Smart is winning 84.7% of his games at Georgia and has helped UGA finally fulfill its potential. Smart's numbers through nine seasons are significantly better than his predecessor, Mark Richt, who went 90-27 (winning 76.9 percent of his games) through his first nine seasons with a pair of SEC championships, but no national titles.
For reference, Nick Saban won 87.7% of his games at Alabama and 80.6% of games in his coaching career. Saban went 105-18 during his first nine seasons at Alabama (85.4 winning percentage), which is only one loss less than Kirby Smart's current record at UGA (105-19). Saban won four national titles in his first nine seasons at Alabama.
Entering Smart's 10th season in Athens, it is stark how much the expectations have changed. Now, fans want to win a national title and many were unsatisfied with Georgia's 2024 season, which featured an SEC championship win over the Texas Longhorns.
