Since returning to Celtic in the recent January transfer window, Jota has scored four goals in 12 appearances, the most recent coming in last weekend’s 3-0 home win over Hearts.
The Portuguese winger has plenty of experience to call upon from his first spell with the club, during which time he won five trophies, including the domestic treble in 2022/23.
And he’s ready to play his part in the run-in as the Hoops look to secure the Premiership title and retain the Scottish Cup to seal what would be a historic ninth treble for the club.
Speaking to Celtic TV ahead of this Sunday’s visit to McDiarmid Park, the 26-year-old said: “The guys fought really hard in the first six months of the season and then I joined in the middle.
“They’ve done a great job and that allows us now to be in a very good position, so we go strong for the last matches.
“This is a moment when we have to pull out our ‘A’ game, but it’s a process. We had to do that in the past in order to be in this position but we feel like we’re working towards our goal and now’s the time to give the last push.”
Jota’s goal against Hearts was an illustration of his attacking instincts as he was quickest to react after Daizen Maeda’s header came back off the post.
The Japanese forward netted twice in the game, taking his tally for the season to 30 goals, and Jota has been impressed by the form of his team-mate.
“Every season is different and the team is made for us to be the best version of ourselves,” he said, “and if everyone is doing their own bit, it’s going to allow other players to shine, and with Daizen, I think that was the case.
“So the team is putting him in very good positions to score and he’s doing a very good job on making it and fighting really hard as well for the team. So credit to him.”
