Joe Burrow's comments about Chase, Higgins extensions say it all
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow has come under fire in some circles recently for his role in the big-money contract extensions for Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins.
But Burrow? He doesn't sound like a guy who wants to hear about allegations that the contracts limit his team's chances of winning a Super Bowl.
One glance at his comments from after the Bengals made the news public says it all.
"They're two of the best players at what they do," Burrow said, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. "When you can re-sign guys like that and keep them around for an extended period of time, that gives you the best chance to go out and win Super Bowls and win a lot of games and win division championships. We got two of our best players re-signed. That's a big deal. Plus, Mike G. We're doing the right things."
There aren't many teams in the NFL that would balk about the idea of having Chase and Higgins around for the long term. Granted, they might have gotten the contracts done sooner and at different times to lessen the cap space implications, but Burrow's point stands.
Now, the Bengals hope that coaching changes along the offensive line and defense equates to better drafting, development and ultimately support for the Big 3 on offense.
