Joe Burrow on Ja'Marr Chase, Tee Higgins deals: 'We're doing the right things'
The Cincinnati Bengals officially made Ja'Marr Chase and Tee Higgins the highest-paid receiver duo in NFL history after signing them to four-year contract extensions.
Few were happier about those signings than Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, as he expressed at a Tuesday news conference announcing the two deals.
"They're two of the best players at what they do," Burrow said of Chase and Higgins, per Bengals.com. "When you can re-sign guys like that and keep them around for an extended period of time, that gives you the best chance to go out and win Super Bowls and win a lot of games and win division championships."
"We got two of our best players re-signed. That's a big deal," he reiterated. "Plus, Mike [Gesicki]. We're doing the right things."
JA'MARR CHASE CONTRACT: Ja'Marr Chase becomes highest-paid non-quarterback in the NFL
Burrow frequently expressed he wanted the Bengals to keep both Chase and Higgins long-term. He offered to restructure his five-year, $275 million deal to help make that happen.
While Burrow was confident Chase would get a deal, he wasn't as sure about Higgins. He had been slapped with a franchise tag for a second consecutive offseason, and it wasn't clear whether the two sides would find a middle ground on a long-term deal.
Ultimately, Cincinnati was able to bridge the gap between itself and Higgins. The two parties agreed to their deal before the Bengals agreed to a deal with Chase, as agent Rocky Arceneaux told the Cincinnati Enquirer.

TEE HIGGINS CONTRACT: Bengals reach agreement on four-year extension
That left Burrow feeling confident about how the next four years would go as the productive trio remained together.
"You never know how somebody's career is going to work out," Burrow said. "So we might be together until the end of somebody's career or we might move on after that.
"But for the next four years, you know what you're going to get from us and we're going to be right here. We're paying the right guys. Guys who work really hard for what they have. Guys who aren't going to get complacent or anything like that. Guys who really care about the product they put on the field and care about the fans and the organization and the people in the locker room. We've got the right guys."
