There not much that intrigues fans and teams alike than the idea of understanding other people's process for evaluating talent. When it comes to seeing and understanding how the best do it, there is and even added bonus to it, which made Jason Licht's answer to a question on Thursday extra fun.
The Bucs general manager was asked about his draft process and player evaluation. Specifically, he was asked if Seniors playing fewer snaps was a deterrent to drafting them. He gave a good, complex answer that also seems to be the right answer.
"I don't know. It's a case-by-case basis. You know, they're still getting a lot of reps in practice that we don't necessarily see. You have to go by what you see on the tape. There could be cases of that. I haven't come across that yet, luckily. We've been drafting pretty well here, but yeah, could be [the case]."
Drafting pretty well here may be an understatement. In 2024, he found three key starters on offense in Graham Barton, Jalen McMillan, and Bucky Irving. He also added some depth pieces on defense in Chris Braswell and Tykee Smith.
Not many general managers are on the heater that Licht is on.
