Philadelphia 76ers rookie Jared McCain was off to a fantastic start in the 2024-25 season averaging 15.3 points, 2.6 assists, and 2.4 rebounds while shooting 46% from the floor and 38.3% from deep. He scored 20-plus points eight times and scored 30-plus twice before his season was cut short after 23 games.
McCain suffered a lateral tear in the meniscus in his left knee and his season was cut short. Along with McCain, the Sixers had to battle through injuries to Joel Embiid, Paul George, Eric Gordon, Tyrese Maxey, and a slew of others. It has been a nightmare season for Philadelphia and it's why it will miss the postseason for the first time in eight years.
McCain sat down with Bleacher Report and gave his thoughts on the season for himself and the Sixers:
"It's an up-and-down season, it happens, but I always like to think you gotta go through hard times for the sun to come out. It's gotta rain before the sun comes out," McCain said optimistically. "I always look at it from a positive outlook, and I feel like once we're all healthy, once we're all back, we'll be a great team. We just gotta get there, we gotta build our chemistry, and I think that'll come with next season."
In theory, if this team is healthy in the 2025-26 season, the Sixers should be in contention for a title in the NBA. McCain will be a big part of what Philadelphia's success in the future so as long as this group is healthy--a big "if" for this team--then they should be able to bounce back in the 2025-26 season.
