Jaguars Josh Hines-Allen ranks among best pass rushers in key category
Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end Josh Hines-Allen has been one of the more consistent pass rushers in the NFL over the last three seasons, ranking among the best in this key metric.
Since the 2022 season, so the last three years, Hines-Allen has the fifth-best pressure rate during that span out of any defensive linemen in the NFL, according to the 33rd Team.
This data shows that Hines-Allen generates a pressure on 15.9% of his defensive snaps. Ahead of him on this list is terrific company, with Micah Parsons at No. 1, with a pressure rate of 19.6%, followed by Nick Bosa, Myles Garrett, and Trey Hendrickson.
While sacks are the ultimate goal for a defender, generating consistent pressure does two things: one it shows the ability to win your matchups regularly and, two, pressure--even without a sack--disrupts the timing and rhythm of the play for the offense, which can lead to mistakes or the quarterback not being able to go through his progressions.
As good and as productive as Hines-Allen has been, continuing to add to the defensive front is going to be a priority for GM James Gladstone in the NFL draft. This was a collective unit last season that ranked 32nd in ESPN's pass rush win rate metric.
The more pass-rush consistency that the Jaguars can get elsewhere along the defensive front could have a trickle-down effect and benefit Hines-Allen, who is currently drawing a lot of interest from opposing offensive line units.
