The Jacksonville Jaguars addressed the trenches in a recent mock draft from Pro Football Network. However, instead of adding to the defensive line like many mocks have the Jaguars doing, they instead addressed the offensive line.
With the fifth pick in Brentley Weissman's latest mock draft, he has the Jaguars taking Missouri offensive tackle Armand Membou.
"Armand Membou is a bit shorter for a tackle, but he moves well and has strong power at the point of attack," Weissman wrote. "He could lock down the right tackle spot in Jacksonville for the next decade."
Membou was a standout at the NFL combine, where he recorded a near-perfect Relative Athletic Score of 9.90 out of 10.00. Membou measured in at 6-042, weighed 332 pounds, and ran a 4.91-second 40 and had elite testing numbers in the vertical and broad jumps.
Membou is an experienced player with almost 2,100 career snaps on offense over three seasons at Missouri. Almost all of those snaps came at right tackle.
For his career, Membou would give up only three sacks. Over the last two seasons, he surrendered just 23 combined pressures over 849 pass-blocking snaps. In 2024 specifically, Membou was 11th in pass-blocking efficiency and fourth in PFF's run-blocking grade.
"His pass sets are technically sound," wrote NFL.com's Lance Zierlein, "and he processes twists and blitzes quickly. Membou plays with a varied pass-set strategy and crafty hands to stymie rush momentum, but teams will have to live with long-armed rushers collapsing the pocket on him at times."
The Jaguars addressed the offensive line fairly heavily in free agency by making four outside additions. However, that isn't going to stop them from further adding to this group in the NFL draft.
When it comes to getting Trevor Lawrence and the passing game back on track, that consistent success starts with the offensive line providing a run game to lean on and time in the pocket.
The free agent additions helped raise the floor of this unit, but the Jaguars also still do not know what they truly have up front at the moment, either. When there are unknowns, teams should give themselves as many options as possible and really lean into creating competition.
"I think from that standpoint, we're always looking to add to the roster, whether it's through the draft, free agency, things like that," Coen said on Wednesday of the offensive line. "But I do believe we brought in some players to come help compete in that room. Obviously, with (Robert) Hainsey knowing the system, and (Patrick) Mekari playing a lot of football, and guys coming in, it's only going to help."
