Jacksonville Jaguars' own free agents: Who was signed and who is still available?
Now nearly a week into NFL free agency, which of the Jacksonville Jaguars' own free agents are signed and which are still available?
Under new GM James Gladstone, he has quickly gone about reshaping the Jaguars' roster. Prior to free agency starting, this included releasing four players to free up salary cap space, including Evan Engram, and he also traded Christian Kirk.
Then, once free agency began, Gladstone made nine quick additions on the first day of the NFL's legal tampering period. Gladstone said during a recent press conference this past week that raising the floor of the roster was his goal in free agency, and with 10 picks in the upcoming NFL draft, he will further round out the roster with starting-caliber players.
So in the midst of this roster reshaping and bringing in players that fit the new offensive and defensive schemes, as well as the culture that Gladstone wants to establish, when it comes to their own unrestricted free agents, the Jaguars haven't brought anyone back. The only free agent, in general, who is returning currently is Cole Van Lanen, who was a restricted free agent.
Jaguars free agents re-signed
Jaguars free agents signed elsewhere
- IDL Jeremiah Ledbetter (New York Giants)
- TE Evan Engram (Denver)
- QB Mac Jones (San Francisco)
- OL Blake Hance (Tennessee)
- S Andre Cisco (New York Jets)
- TE Luke Farrell (San Francisco)
Jaguars free agents still available
- IOL Brandon Scherff: The Jaguars should still add to the interior offensive line for depth, but I would anticipate that happening in the NFL draft.
- WR Josh Reynolds: Reynolds was a late addition to the 2024 roster as a waiver claim in December.
- WR Devin Duvernay: A team wanting to boost their return units will bring in Duvernay.
- CB Ronald Darby: This position has started to take a new shape with Jourdan Lewis in the slot and, presumably, Jarrian Jones moving to the boundary. Another addition should be made in the draft.
- LB Caleb Johnson: If there is someone I could see returning it is Johnson, who has been a key special teams contributor on one of the better units in the NFL.
- QB CJ Beathard: Behind Trevor Lawrence, James Gladstone has brought in two quarterbacks--Nick Mullens and John Wolford--who have experience in similar systems as Liam Coen's.
- RB D'Ernest Johnson: Depth is needed here but the draft class is loaded with talent.
- TE Josiah Deguara: I think an H-back like presence is valuable in Coen's offense, but Hunter Long and Johnny Mundt can help bring that versatile, blocking-first presence.
