The 6-foot-11 center became an immediate starter upfront for the Cyclones after transferring in from Charlotte. Before that, he also spent three years at Washington State, where he played two seasons and underwent a redshirt year.
One of Jackson's best performances came against Kansas on Jan. 15, when he came off the bench and finished with 17 points and four rebounds through 20 minutes of action. He also had a 10-point, 15-rebound double-double in Iowa State's Big 12 Tournament second-round victory over Cincinnati.
Jackson entered the transfer portal the day it opened on March 24. The Cyclones also lost J.T. Rock to the portal, as well as Brandton Chatfield, whose career came to an end after exhausting his eligibility.
Since their departures, Iowa State started to replenish its frontcourt with the additions of transfers Eric Mulder (Purdue-Fort Wayne) and Blake Buchanan (Virginia). The Cyclones also landed guard Mason Williams from Eastern Washington to help in the backcourt.

Jackson heads to Pittsburgh with plenty of in-game experience. Throughout his four seasons of playing at the collegiate level, he's made 114 appearances, including 82 starts, across his time at Washington State, Charlotte and Iowa State. He is close to reaching the 1,000-point mark for his career, with 960 points (8.4 points per game). He is also averaging 4.9 rebounds and 1.0 blocks, while shooting 54.3% throughout his career.
Iowa State's other outgoing transfers
There were three reserves who entered the transfer portal on the same day as Jackson โ Rock, Kayden Fish and Demarion Watson. Nojus Indrusaitis, the Cyclones' lone true freshman this past season, later joined them in the portal.
To date, Kayden Fish is the only other player to announce a commitment. Fish found a new home at Ball State. The remaining players are still going through the recruitment process. The transfer portal closes on April 22.
