Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi has expressed the highest regard for Bayern Munich ahead of their Champions League quarter-final first leg on Tuesday.

"We are playing against a very strong team, which, along with Real Madrid, is a favourite to win the title," said the 49-year-old coach.

"I have already been here with Lazio and Inter, so I know how difficult it is to play in this stadium," said the coach of the Italian champions.

In the 2022 group stage, Inter lost 2-0 to Bayern both in Milan and Munich.

"But we have grown enormously since then. The gap that existed between us and Bayern at that time no longer exists," Inzaghi said.

"We know we are facing a significant challenge against Bayern."

Inzaghi also expressed great admiration for Thomas Müller, who could replace the injured Jamal Musiala in Bayern's attack. The former Germany international announced on Saturday he was leaving the Bundesliga champions at the end of the season.

"Thomas Müller is a champion, a player who has won many titles. I have great respect for him," said Inzaghi.

He added that Bayern are a team that always plays with very high intensity.

"And Thomas Müller is number one when it comes to intensity," he added.

Nevertheless, the absence of the injured Musiala is a significant blow to Inter's rivals.

"Musiala is a great talent, one of the greatest in the world. That is a heavy loss," said Inzaghi.

However, Bayern have "other options, such as Serge Gnabry and Müller."
