Here's where UNC basketball stands in NCAA bracket predictions
North Carolina has had a whirwind in the last 48 hours since opening the ACC Tournament. The Tar Heels have taken down Notre Dame, seen multiple bubble teams lose, and beat Wake Forest. They opened the ACC Tournament on the outside looking in of most bracket projections and in the last three days have completely revamped how everyone sees them.
They have a rematch with Duke on Friday night, a team that beat them twice in the regular season. They will be without Cooper Flagg, but if UNC can still find a way to pull out a win, get another Quad 1 win, and extend their already rising NET rankings, this team could be poised to make a jump to a bye.
Here is a breakdown of the Top 10 bracket predictions and where they have UNC basketball listed.
ESPN
Seed: 11
Joe Lunardi has North Carolina as the No. 3 of the last four teams in. As a result, they are projected to take on San Diego State in the 11-seed game instead of a projected 12-seed play-in game.
CBS Sports
Seed: Not Seeded
CBS Sports' Jerry Palm has North Carolina still on the outside looking in as his "first team out." Indiana, Boise State, San Diego State, and Xavier round out the "last four in," while Dayton, Colorado State, and Texas join UNC projected to miss the tournament.
USA TODAY Sports
Seed: 12
Paul Myerberg of USA TODAY Sports has North Carolina in the 12-seed play-in game in the first four, taking on Boise State. He has San Diego State and Texas in the 11-seed play-in game.
On3
Seed: 12
James Fletcher of On3 Sports has North Carolina in his "last four in" taking on San Diego State in the 11-seed play-in game. He projects Xavier and Texas to compete in the 12-seed play-in game.
SB Nation
Seed: Not Seeded
Chris Dobbertean of SB Nation's BloggingBracket has North Carolina still as his first team out. He projects Indiana, SDSU, Xavier, and Texas as the last four teams to get into the tournament.
Sports Illustrated
Seed: Not Seeded
Kevin Sweeney of Sports Illustrated has North Carolina as the second team out in the grouping of the "first four out." His "last four in" consist of Indiana, SDSU, Texas, and Boise State. UNC is joined by Xavier, Colorado State, and UC Irvine.
Sporting News
Seed: 12
Bill Bender has the Tar Heels as his last team in the NCAA Tournament. They are joined ahead of them in the first-four grouping with Texas, Indiana, and Boise State. He has them as a 12-seed.
Bart Torvik
Seed: 11
Bart Torvik has North Carolina as an 11 seed in the upcoming NCAA Tournament. However, his is not an 11-seed that we have been talking about. He has UNC basketball as his last team to get a bye, which means they wouldn't have to play in the first-four games next week.
RotoWire
Seed: Not Seeded
RotoWire still has UNC basketball on the outside looking in. They have Ohio State taking on Xavier in the 11-seed play-in game while Indiana takes on SDSU in the 12-seed play-in game.
Clutch Points
Seed: Not Seeded
Sonny Giuliano from Clutch Points has UNC basketball as his first team out of the field of 68. His last four in consist of SDSU, Xavier, and Texas, three notable teams, and then he has West Virginia, in an unlikely scenario, making the tournament.
