How Mississippi State basketball's loss to Missouri impacts March Madness bracket predictions
NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Mississippi State basketball's SEC tournament run was short lived.
The No. 10 seed Bulldogs (21-12) crushed No. 15 LSU in the first round on Wednesday and then lost 83-75 to No. 7 Missouri (22-10) on Thursday.
They won't play anymore games until Selection Sunday, so here's a look at how the loss could impact the NCAA tournament bracket.
How Mississippi State's loss to Missouri impacts March Madness bracket
Mississippi State came into Thursday's game projected as a No. 8 seed by ESPN and a No. 6 seed by CBS Sports.
Missouri is projected for a slightly higher seed than MSU, so a 12-point loss shouldn't hurt badly.
It was more of a missed opportunity to possibly jump Missouri in the bracket. Mississippi State has won just two of its last seven games. Both of those wins are against LSU, who won't make the NCAA tournament.
That could be a factor that's held against the Bulldogs come Selection Sunday.
