Georgia football transfer target lands with Big 12 school

A Georgia Bulldogs transfer target has found a new home. Edge rusher David Bailey, who was considered a logical transfer target for the Bulldogs, transferred from the Stanford Cardinal to the Texas Tech Red Raiders, according to On3's transfer portal news.

Bailey was a four-star recruit when he originally committed to Stanford in the class of 2021. The 6-foot-3, 250-pound edge/linebacker hybrid was a hometown kid from Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California. He was the 10th overall prospect in California.

Ever since his commitment to Stanford, Bailey has steadily improved his game, going from 2.5 sacks in his freshman year to five in his sophomore year, then ending at 7.0 sacks in his junior year. While his tackle numbers have gone down each year, but he earned a 90.9 defensive PFF grade last season, the highest of his career.

Bailey was ranked as the 10th-best transfer in the country, and Texas Tech, now with their string of high-profile transfer portal additions, have the No. 1 transfer portal class in the country.

Georgia, meanwhile, has just the No. 48 transfer portal class in the country, but the Bulldogs are known for just making transfer portal additions at positions of need. They did this in 2024, when former Florida running back Trevor Etienne landed with the Bulldogs.

Still, Georgia could've absolutely used another edge rusher. Top edge rushers Mykel Williams, Jalon Walker, and Chaz Chambliss all going to the 2025 NFL draft, along with Damon Wilson and Samuel M'Pemba leaving via the transfer portal.
