Former Texas RB Nearly Runs Historic 40-Yard Dash
The Texas Longhorns lost plenty of talent to the NFL Draft, and one of their former players nearly set a record for the 40-yard dash.
Former Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy made the most of his 40-yard dash in 2024. He broke former Washington Huskies receiver John Ross' record of 4.22. Worthy ran the 40-yard dash in 4.21 seconds.
Worthy was drafted 28th overall by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2024 NFL Draft.
On Tuesday, the Longhorns had their Pro Day with various NFL coaches and executives in attendance. Running back Jaydon Blue said he ran a 4.28 on his first attempt. Receiver Isaiah Bond ran a 4.34.
Both Blue and Bond believed they beat Worthy's record at the NFL Combine.

Texas dealt with many injuries at running back last season, losing CJ Baxter to a torn ACL and Christan Clark to a torn Achilles.
The injuries to the position thrust Blue into a more prominent role in the Longhorns' backfield. Blue split carries with Tre Wisner and finished second on the team in rushing yards, with 730. Wisner led the team with 1,064 and also had five touchdowns.
Blue was a former four-star prospect and the No. 11 running back in the 2022 class, per the On3 Industry Rankings.
In Blue's first season with Texas, he played in nine games and accounted for 33 rushing yards. In 2023, his playing time increased, and he saw the field in 14 games, finishing with 398 rushing yards and three touchdowns.
The Texas running back played a key role last season for the Longhorns and played in 15 games.
Texas reached the SEC Championship Game and College Football Playoff in its first season in the SEC. The Longhorns were the No. 5 seed in the playoff and reached the semifinal round.
The 2025 NFL Draft is from April 24-26 in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
