Kael Combs is a Big Ten basketball player.
The former Nixa basketball star announced on social media on Wednesday morning that he will transfer to the University of Iowa.
Combs is following Ben McCollum, his head coach at Drake, who took the Iowa job after one season leading the Bulldogs. It will be Combs' third school in three years after starting his career at Wyoming.
He will join the Hawkeyes with two seasons of college eligibility remaining.
The athletic 6-foot-4 guard found a role for the Bulldogs en route to the NCAA Tournament Round of 32. He came off the bench in 32 games and averaged 3.8 points, but was a reliable defender on the perimeter.
In southwest Missouri, Combs was a standout on the hardwood and football field. He was the News-Leader's 2022-23 Boys' Basketball Player of the Year when he averaged 23.4 points, 6.9 boards and 6.1 assists while shooting 44% from beyond the arc.
