The hype around top Philadelphia Flyers prospect Alex Bump is certainly real, and he'll have one last opportunity to finish his NCAA career showered in glory with a Frozen Four championship matchup with Boston University on Saturday night.
Bump, 21, has enjoyed a wildly productive sophomore season with Western Michigan University, posting 23 goals, 24 assists, and 47 points in 41 games while wearing the 'A' for the first time for his school.
The Flyers' former fifth-round pick has ridden a nine-game winning streak all the way to the Frozen Four championship, and despite having no points in each of his last three games, Bump has still rattled off 20 shots on goal.
Bump, a high-octane offensive player, commands the puck from teammates and demands attention from opposing defenses. He, alongside Los Angeles goalie prospect Hampton Slukynsky, have helped drive Western Michigan to this one last game.
Bump will be going head-to-head with fellow Flyers prospect Devin Kaplan, a 2022 third-round pick who plays right wing for Boston.
Kaplan, 21, has 10 goals, seven assists, and 17 points in 37 games this season. In 144 career NCAA games, Kaplan has 25 goals, 38 assists, and 63 points, with his strengths primarily residing in his playmaking, size, and defensive reliability.
As for Bump, he's been drawing praise from all corners of the internet, including from Hockey Hall of Famers.
Towards the end of Western Michigan's semifinals game against the University of Denver, Hall of Famer and Flyers legend Chris Pronger gave Bump his flowers as well.
"Exciting back and forth action. Man do the Flyers have a good one in Bump. Sic (sic) set of mitts on him," Pronger posted to his X account Thursday night.

And on that note, how can Flyers fans watch their ascending prospect go for the gusto and presumably end his collegiate career on a high note before arriving in Philadelphia?
