As the 2024-25 regular season winds down, the MVP debates have gone from a simmering heat to an arctic cold in recent weeks. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander continues to dominate and the Oklahoma City Thunder continue to win. Meanwhile, Nikola Jokic has missed time and the Denver Nuggets have fallen in the standings.
Viewed as the best forecaster for award races, ESPN's Tim Bontempts published his final MVP straw poll on Wednesday. The mock vote consists of 100 media members across the league. More often than not, it accurately predicts who'll win the prestigious trophy.
The results show Gilgeous-Alexander as the overwhelming favorite to win MVP. In fact, it's closer to being a unanimous vote than an actual two-player race that came down to the wire.
Gilgeous-Alexander has 931 total voting points. He garnered 77 first-place votes and 23 second-place votes. Jokic has 769 total voting points. He garnered 23 first-place votes and 77 second-place votes. The full results can be viewed below:

Considering the recent shift in betting odds, it feels inevitable for Gilgeous-Alexander to win the MVP award. He's had as ironclad of a case as there has been in recent memory. The best player on the best team has enjoyed one of the greatest scoring campaigns ever.
