ESPN names Texans as 'ideal destination' for free agent LB Kyzir White
While free agency is mostly finished, there are still a few names who could be decent finds for the Houston Texans ahead of the upcoming draft that could remain in play.
ESPN’s Bill Barnwell recently released his latest assessment of the best landing spots for those still looking for a home. Most Texans fans would love to see Arizona Cardinals offensive lineman Will Hernandez join the guard room to better the odds of having stable trench play.
A Cardinals player is targeted, but instead of looking at offense, Barnwell has the Texans going after a defensive name with linebacker Kyzir White.
"White has been a favorite of coach Jonathan Gannon, as he followed the former Eagles defensive coordinator to Arizona in 2023. A reunion with the Cardinals would probably make the most sense for all parties involved, especially given that his market hasn't really developed to the point where he would be out of the mix for Arizona," Barnwell wrote. "The Cardinals brought in Akeem Davis-Gaither from the Bengals on a two-year, $10 million deal, but that shouldn't necessarily close the door on White in Arizona. If it does, a team with a creative defensive coordinator should find a useful role for him.
White is coming off one of his best seasons as a pro, totaling 137 tackles, 2.5 sacks, an interception and eight QB hits in 17 games. The Texans don't need a starting linebacker, but adding a depth piece with White's potential who could compete for reps with Christian Harris and Henry To'oTo'o seems logical, especially after losing Neville Hewitt and Del'Shawn Phillips to free agency.
PICKED by @KyzirWhite8 in the end zone😮 How ya feeling, @AZCardinals fans?!

It's not a done deal by any means, but if the Texans feel like using most of their picks on offensive pieces, a team-friendly one-year deal could benefit both sides in helping the defense transform into a top five unit for 2025.
