Drake men’s basketball added a pair of players to its 2025-26 roster on Saturday.
Owen Larson and Griffen Goodbary announced their commitments on social media. Larson just finished his freshman year at South Dakota State, and 2025 recruit Goodbary flipped his commitment from the Jackrabbits to the Bulldogs.
Larson, a 6-foot-2 guard, will return to his home state of Iowa. The Estherville-Lincoln Central alumnus was named the Class 2A boys basketball player of the year and averaged 27.3 points, 8.5 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game as a senior.
He earned a starting role in his first season of college basketball, starting 29 of 29 games played this past year. He averaged 9.2 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.6 assists.
Larson’s father, Troy, spent six years as an assistant coach at South Dakota State in the 2000s.
Goodbary, a 6-10 power forward out of Sioux Falls Christian in South Dakota, follows Eric Henderson from South Dakota State. He is coming off a title-winning senior season, leading his team to a state championship with a 32-point, 15-rebound performance in the final game of the year.
Goodbary earned the distinction of Gatorade Player of the Year for South Dakota at the end of the 2024-25 season. It marked the second-straight year winning the award, with Goodbary claiming the title in 2024, as well.
Head coach Eric Henderson has added four players since taking over the program at the end of March.
