Don't miss these 15 boys volleyball players to watch from MetroWest, Milford areas

The only place to escape the early-spring chill should heat up with chest-bumping celebrations across MetroWest and Greater Milford as the boys volleyball season tips off. We've compiled 15 players to watch for a season that should be electric at local gyms.

Sam Abreu, Milford

A sophomore and right-side hitter, Abreu has “a heavy arm,” said head coach Andrew Mainini. “He’s going to help balance our offense by having an experienced and explosive attacker on the right side of the court.”

Nick Andrade, Marlborough

The junior returns after earning Mid-Wach B All-Star honors last season.

Branch Barnes, Natick

Already a two-year captain and an All-State selection last year, Barnes totaled 210 kills and had a 90% serve success rate.

Finn Bell, Wayland

Was named co-MVP in the Dual County League and MAVCA All-State last season as a sophomore. He averaged 17 kills per match.

Wayland High School sophomore Finn Bell winds up against Westfield in the Div. 2 state championship game at Worcester State University, June 13, 2024.

Gavin Butterfield, Algonquin

The junior middle hitter returns after a standout sophomore season.

Jason Comisky, Milford

The senior setter will be “a key leader out on the court for us this season,” said head coach Andrew Mainini. This season will be his first as a starter, but Mainini says “he got quality reps in a few matches (last year) and has solid playing experience from playing out of season.”

Gustavo Da Silva, Milford

The junior outside hitter and returning starter will be the team’s “primary offensive weapon this season,” according to head coach Andrew Mainini. “He’s comfortable hitting the ball from the left and right side of the court and will draw a lot of the attention of our opponents.”
