We officially have a date we can circle for the San Francisco 49ers if they're looking to get a contract done with quarterback Brock Purdy before the offseason program begins.
The NFL on Thursday announced offseason workout dates for all 32 teams.
Phase One begins for San Francisco on April 22, two days before the 2025 NFL draft is set to begin. That phase of the program involves no on-field work, and is restricted to only meetings, strength and conditioning, and rehab for injured players.
If the 49ers want to have their negotiations done with Purdy before the offseason program starts, they'll need to have it done by then. General manager John Lynch indicated that was a possibility. It wouldn't be a surprise if Purdy doesn't report until he has a contract extension.
Phase Two is when on-field work begins, although it's limited. No contact is permitted by the NFL and offense vs. defense drills aren't allowed. The 49ers will have Phase Two sessions May 27-28, May 30, June 2-3 and June 5. Then they'll get a few days off before Phase Three with mandatory minicamp.
Mandatory minicamp is scheduled for June 10 and 11.
The offseason program will be huge for the 49ers this year given the slew of new talent they'll be bringing in via the draft. Ideally that will be the biggest story line with Purdy's contract out of the way before the offseason program starts.
