Let’s say, for the sake of argument, that spring really begins on Opening Day.
Are you ready?
Comerica Park has a new look, with a new scoreboard.
A new season — like Detroit's motto, Speramus Meliora — brings new hope.
Perhaps we can put all the bad weather we’ve just endured — the early April snow; the ice that glazed, and snapped, trees; the tornadoes that lifted off roofs, and the rains that turned roadways into rivers — behind us.
"It’s looking good," said Dave Kook, a National Weather Service meteorologist, said of the forecast for when the Tigers are facing the Chicago White Sox at 1:10 p.m., adding it likely will be overcast and in the mid-50s.
There's only a 20% chance of rain.
So, perhaps what he should have said is: "It's looking good enough."
Kook, a baseball fan, said he, unfortunately, must work.
And while Opening Day might feel to some like spring is finally here, with a few dry hours to watch the game, a thundershower overnight is on the way. But, Kook said, it shouldn't be torrential with only a ½-inch of rainfall.
As for game forecasts, the meteorologist said he's just predicting the weather.
