Denver Broncos showing interest in former Longhorns tight end
Following a productive career with the Texas Longhorns, Gunnar Helm is one of the top tight ends in the upcoming NFL Draft. He has been a popular name in the rumor mill and has drawn heavy interest from the Denver Broncos. While Denver signed Evan Ingram in free agency, that hasn't stopped Sean Payton from thinking about adding more depth.
During his last season as a Longhorn Helm became a vital piece in the passing game. He set career highs in receptions with 60, receiving yards with 786, and touchdowns with seven. Helm found a way to get open regardless of who was under center.
As Helm saw his stock skyrocket, the Broncos took notice of his play. They have prioritized him during the draft process, meeting with the former Longhorn twice.

"Given Gunnar Helm’s rough, if brave, performance at the NFL Combine last month, the Broncos wanted to double-check on the talented tight end by bringing him in recently for a pre-draft visit, sources tell 9NEWS," Mike Klis wrote on March 23rd.
At the NFL Combine, Helm had a rough performance. That was due to an ankle injury that occurred right when he came out of his stance on his first run. Now that he is healthier, the Broncos wanted to see what he could do. For teams looking to add offense, Helm would be a solid addition.
Most mock drafts currently have Helm, hearing his name called in the third round. While he was hoping that would be higher after the combine, Helm did show two traits teams will be looking for. Those were determination and grit.
If the Broncos were to draft Helm, it would be a homecoming. He is from Englewood, Colorado, and would get to play for the team he grew up watching. While a lot could change leading up to the draft, Denver has made it clear that Helm is on their radar.
