The Greater Peoria Sports Hall of Fame ceremony is coming up. Here's what to know
The 2025 banquet and ceremony for the newest Greater Peoria Sports Hall of Fame class is scheduled for Saturday, March 29 at the Peoria Civic Center Ballroom. Here's what you need to know about the event:
When and where is the GPSHOF banquet?
- WHERE: The event is at the Peoria Civic Center Ballroom. Those attending should enter the Civic Center near the Toyota Box Office, located off the Marquee Lot at 201 SW Jefferson Ave., just off of Klumpf Boulevard. The banquet is one of multiple events scheduled for the PCC that night; please arrive early.
- WHEN: Social begins at 5 p.m. and dinner at 6 p.m., followed by the induction ceremony.
How can you get tickets to the GPSHOF banquet?
- COST: Tickets are $55 if purchased by March 20. Tickets after that date, if available, are $65. Tickets will not be sold at the door.

Who is being inducted into the GPSHOF?
- Individual inductees: Marcus Pollard, who played basketball at Bradley and 14 seasons of football in the NFL; longtime NFL assistant coach Rick Venturi; longtime high school coach Mickey Schallau; all-America high school basketball player Kendra Gantt of Richwoods and Illinois; all-America swimmer Andy DeVooght of Richwoods and Georgia; and multi-sport star Rhea Taylor of Peoria High, who played basketball at Arizona State.
- Team inductees: 2003 and 2004 Peoria High state champion boys basketball teams, the 2005 Richwoods state champion girls basketball team, and state finalist Eureka boys cross country teams from 1998 to 2004.
- Tri-County awards: U.S. Olympic silver medalist Anna Peplowski (Indiana swimming) and Peoria Rivermen captain and Peoria native Alec Hagaman will be honored as the top athletes for 2024. The top coaches are Shelly Stoner (Limestone volleyball) and Layne Langholf (PND girls basketball), while longtime high school coach and volunteer Clay Cantrell will receive the Neve Harms Award, given for meritorious service to sports.
