Apr. 3—MITCHELL — The 2025 Dakota Wesleyan University football schedule is set.
Year Two of the Alex Kretzschmar Era will commence with the annual rivalry game for the Chamber of Commerce trophy against Dakota State at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30, at Joe Quintal Field. Last season, the Trojans reclaimed the trophy with a convincing 34-3 victory in Madison.
The Tigers will open Great Plains Athletic Conference play with four of their first five games away from Mitchell, beginning with contests against Dordt (Iowa) on Sept. 6 and Concordia (Neb.) on Sept. 13, with the game against the Bulldogs being played at night with a 6 p.m. kickoff.
A home date against Northwestern (Iowa) precedes road tilts against Briar Cliff (Iowa) and Doane. DWU finishes the season with four of its final five games at home, beginning with Morningside (Iowa) on Oct. 11. Waldorf will make its first GPAC appearance at Joe Quintal Field on Oct. 25 following the Tigers' bye week, which will also be DWU's Blue and White Days Homecoming celebration.
The second edition of the Dakota Railroad rivalry game against Mount Marty will be held at 1 p.m. on Nov. 1 in Yankton, following the Lancers winning the inaugural contest 24-17 in overtime. The regular season ends following consecutive home games against Midland on Nov. 8 and Hastings on Nov. 15.
Last season, the Tigers finished the year at 4-7, bouncing back to close the season following an 0-3 start.
