A talented cornerback, born in Detroit, a Michigan alum, wears No. 2. Of course, Jourdan Lewis may come to mind first for Cowboys fans, but Will Johnson represents the next generation of possibilities at the position.
The junior, who just turned 22, is expected to hear his name called early in the NFL draft later this month. The Cowboys are among the teams thought to be interested, with the aforementioned Lewis now in Jacksonville and All-Pro Trevon Diggs a question mark to start the season as he rehabs from knee surgery.
Johnson, though, for all his potential, has his own injury concerns. He missed the second half of Michigan's 2024 season with turf toe, an issue that kept him from working out at the scouting combine. (He was in Indianapolis, however, and Dallas had a meeting with him there.) But then a new hamstring injury also kept Johnson off the field at Michigan's pro day on Mar. 21.
Even still, the NFL is drooling over Johnson's obvious talents (zero touchdowns allowed in coverage over the last two college seasons), and there's belief he could become one of the league's top corners in very short order.
Now reportedly over his hamstring injury, Johnson is scheduled to conduct a private workout for teams in Ann Arbor on Monday. He'll then go to visit several teams, beginning with the Raiders, who own the 6th overall pick.
Johnson is currently seen as a first-round lock by most evaluators, but the recent injuries may leave some teams hesitant to pull the trigger on him. Check out his measurables, highlights, and scouting reports below.
