Chiefs eat vegetables early, pick exciting defenders on Day 2 in this 3-round mock draft

The Kansas City Chiefs should have options aplenty in the first three rounds of the 2025 NFL draft later this month, and projecting exactly how the team will choose to utilize its early picks is a tricky task.

Given that the Chiefs will have to wait until the No. 31 selection to make their first move, Kansas City is set to be at the mercy of other teams' draft boards in Round 1

However, the reigning AFC champions should be more flexible on Day 2.

Check out this full three-round Chiefs mock draft, which was made using Pro Football Network'sMock Draft Simulator:

Round 1, Pick No. 31: North Dakota State Bison OL Grey Zabel

Zabel has all the makings of a future star and would be an absolute gift to the Chiefs in the first round of the 2025 NFL draft. Though this might not be the most exciting pick for Kansas City's fans, the loss of veteran guard Joe Thuney earlier in the offseason means that the Chiefs have a major need in the middle of their offensive line.

With Zabel off the board, Kansas City can target a playmaking defender in Round 2.

Round 2, Pick No. 63: Notre Dame Fighting Irish DB Xavier Watts

Watts is exactly the kind of defensive spark plug that the Chiefs still need to add after their embarrassing showing against the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX. By selecting the Notre Dame standout in the second round, Kansas City's front office would be making a bold commitment to helping Steve Spagnuolo's defense force more turnovers next season.

Round 3, Pick No. 66: Bowling Green Falcons TE Harold Fannin Jr.
