Colts land playmaker in Bruce Feldman's coaches 'intel' NFL mock draft

The Indianapolis Colts came away with Penn State tight end Tyler Warren in Bruce Feldman's 2025 NFL mock draft for The Athletic. However, this mock draft isn't like others that are out there.

This is Feldman's fifth year doing a mock draft based on the intel that he's gathered during the pre-draft process from speaking to "dozens" of college coaches and NFL sources to gain some added insight into how things might unfold.

"My goal with this project is to provide unique insight directly from the eyes of rival coaches who have not only studied and scouted these prospects but game-planned for and then faced each of them — in many cases, more than once," Feldman wrote.

Adding Warren to the Colts offense would not only help provide that needed passing game presence--he totaled over 100 receptions and went over the 1,200 yard receiving mark last season--but he also has the ability to impact the game in a variety of ways as well.

Warren is versatile and is able to line up across the formation, which includes out of the backfield if needed. He's also a capable run blocker as well, a skill set that can't be overlooked when discussing the tight end position in Shane Steichen's offense.

That do-it-all presence at the tight end position can add a layer of unpredictability to an offense, with defenses unable to easily decipher pre-snap what might be coming with that player able to fill a variety of roles.

“They were force-feeding him the ball last year,” another Big Ten coach told Feldman. “He is a very good player. He’s closer to (Rob Gronkowski) than Brock Bowers. He is a true tight end. Good blocker, not like dynamite, but good.”

The fit and the pick makes all the sense in the world for the Colts. The big question, however, is whether or not Warren makes it to pick 14. There are a lot of teams out there who could benefit from his skill set.
