Stats to know
In what is a very deep defensive tackle draft class, Collins is PFF's ninth-ranked player at that position and the 49th-ranked prospect overall.
Collins has played nearly 1,900 defensive snaps over five seasons at Texas. He has size, but he also has the athleticism to match, and is versatile, having played up and down the defensive front in college.
He recorded 18 pressures and one sack in 2024 but was one of the best interior run defenders in college football, according to PFF's metrics, ranking 12th in run defense grade.
Collins' impact goes beyond the stat sheet as well. With the push he creates, the space he eats up, and the blockers he takes on, he creates opportunities for other defenders around him as well.
The Colts are reportedly having Collins in for an official 30 pre-draft visit.
Fit with the Indianapolis Colts
The Colts obviously have a strong foundation here with DeForest Buckner and Grover Stewart, but the depth behind them needs a boost in a big way. By PFF's pass rush win rate metric and run stop rate metric, Taven Bryan and Raekwon Davis--two unsigned free agents currently--ranked among the worst at their position group last season.
The hope would be that Neville Gallimore can provide a more impactful presence and that Adetomiwa Adebawore takes a leap in Year 3, but those are not givens either. So, reinforcing the depth and adding competition should continue to be on GM Chris Ballard's radar.
"I feel good about the edges," Shane Steichen said at the NFL's annual league meeting. "Obviously getting inside with Buck and Grove, and then adding some pieces in free agency. But I think just depth, more than anything. You gotta have depth there at the defensive line, rotate those guys in and out and keep them fresh."
