Chelsea are in the market for a striker this summer but have yet to settle on a particular target. According to Sky Sports, the Blues want an understudy for Nicolas Jackson.
Chelsea are happy with the development of the Senegalese centre-forward. The West Londoners want to stick with him as the first-choice striker while signing someone to back-up.
Per the report, Chelsea’s sporting directors, Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart, are looking at younger options like Benjamin Sesko, Liam Delap and Jonathan David.
Sesko and Delap are still developing strikers, while David has established himself in Ligue 1 with LOSC Lille. The trio are fantastic centre-forwards.
The Blues need an upgrade – View
Unfortunately, all three are not what Chelsea need right now. The Blues do not need another prospect in the squad.
This team is crying out for a centre-forward with a track record of leading teams to titles and competing in the upper echelon, not another unproven piece. The two-time UEFA Champions League winners have enough of those at the moment.
Jackson is still a prospect and should play understudy to someone worthy of leading the line at a club of Chelsea’s stature.
Chelsea must rekindle Victor Osimhen pursuit
If Chelsea are serious about returning to the top of the Premier League, then they should head back in for Napoli/Galatasaray hitman Victor Osimhen. They tried to sign him last summer but could not get a deal over the line.
What a mistake that was! The Nigerian international is spearheading Galatasaray to the top of the Turkish Super League. His brace sent Gala into the semi-final of the Cup.
Osimhen is a battering ram. He is a fierce forward who is hard to contain. He is powerful, dominating defenders in the air and on the ground.
The 26-year-old led Napoli to only their third Scudetto in 2023 with 26 goals in 32 games, bagging 31 across all competitions. He has 28 goals and five assists in 32 outings for Gala this term.
If Chelsea want to compete with the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool, and Arsenal, they need more than potential. The Blues need presence. Osimhen brings exactly that.
He is not only a goal machine but also a leader on the pitch, a striker who thrives under pressure and delivers when it matters most.
With a squad brimming with young talent, what Chelsea desperately lack is a proven winner up front. Osimhen fits the bill perfectly.
