The Chargers are hosting LSU tight end Mason Taylor on a top 30 visit, according to The Draft Network's Ryan Fowler.
Taylor finished as LSU's career leader at tight end in receptions (129) and receiving yards (1,308).
Taylor is an athletic tight end at 6-foot-5 and 255 pounds who can run a full route tree, can run past linebackers, and is physical at the catch point as a receiver with strong hands. His blocking needs work, but he could play on passing downs early in his pro career.
Despite adding Tyler Conklin in free agency, Los Angeles needs to inject some youth into the tight end room and get someone who could be a long-term solution at the position. Taylor will only be 20 years old during his rookie season.
Taylor currently projects to be selected within the top 50.
