In an offseason full of moves from top to bottom, the Chicago Bears have rebuilt their entire offense for quarterback Caleb Williams and new head coach Ben Johnson.
Johnson is known for his ability to get the most out of an entire offensive roster, and he'll be tasked with doing that in Chicago while identifying new talent to help succeed with Williams.
At the wide receiver position, the Bears are led by star DJ Moore and last year's first round pick Rome Odunze, and then they've added depth behind them. Last season, Chicago led by Moore, Odunze, and veteran Keenan Allen, two of whom (Allen and Odunze) were at least 6-foot-2. This offseason, the Bears have not re-signed Allen but instead have brought in veterans Olamide Zaccheaus and Devin Duvernay.
At the NFL Owners Meetings this week, Johnson spoke about constructing a roster at skill positions and likened it to how you build a basketball team.
"You don't want five 6'4 guys necessarily in the receiver room. You want more of a basketball team."

"To me that's how you want to construct your roster from all your skill positions, you don't want five 6'4" guys in the receiver room, you more of a basketball team," Johnson said when discussing how to identify the right players for the system. "How you would have a point guard, the power forward, you have a wealth of different skill sets that you can look to call upon wherever you're at in the field, and whatever situation arises."
Moore and Odunze will lead the way as the top Bears receivers, but Johnson's comments make it clear that everyone who steps on the field will have a role and opportunities to succeed in the offense.
