Barcelona eye summer swoop for Real Madrid defensive target – report
Dean Huijsen has become one of the most talked-about defensive prospects in Europe this season, thanks to his brilliant performances at Bournemouth.
Huijsen was in focus this week, in particular, as he made his debut for the Spanish national team by appearing as a replacement for the injured Pai Cubarsi.
Barcelona eye move for Huijsen
According to Defensa Central, Huijsen’s rapid rise to prominence has put Barcelona on red alert, with the club eyeing a potential summer move for the Bournemouth starlet.
With Inigo Martinez currently in the final phase of his career and Andreas Christensen doubtful about continuing at Camp Nou, Barça are ready to shore up their ranks in the defensive unit.
Huijsen could be an ideal solution as the youngster has shown immense potential at Bournemouth.
Given his technical brilliant and athleticism, Huijsen could prove to be an excellent defensive partnership for Cubarsi in the years to come.
Barcelona’s big obstacle: Real Madrid
However, in order to attain his services, Barcelona must compete with Real Madrid.
The reigning Spanish champions are closely monitoring Huijsen’s progress, with the youngster emerging as one of the club’s defensive targets for the summer ahead.
A bigger problem for Barcelona is that Huijsen himself is a huge fan of Real Madrid, and if he gets the chance to leave Bournemouth, he will only join Los Blancos.
This is something the player has told his inner circle and it is very likely that Barcelona, too, will get a similar response.
Therefore, unless something drastic happens, it is unlikely that Huijsen could eye a move to Real Madrid in the summer, whereas Barcelona must now look for other alternatives.
