Agent Federico Pastorello On Clients Francesco Acerbi & Stefan De Vrij: “They Deserve New Contracts But Inter Milan Decides”
Italian football agent Federico Pastorello has offered his thoughts on the futures of his clients at Inter Milan, defenders Francesco Acerbi and Stefan De Vrij.
The two former Lazio players are approaching the ends of their respective contracts and are yet to pen new deals, potentially leaving them as free agents in the summer and moving on from the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.
In an interview with Tuttomercatoweb, and via FCInterNews.it, Pastorello spoke of his clients and argued that they were both deserving of new deals given their contributions to the first team, but ultimately the decision fell to Inter and their ideas on building a squad for coach Simone Inzaghi.
“Given how they are playing I think there should be no doubts about the future. We are waiting for the decision of the club, the coach and the directors,” claimed.
“It is up to them given that the options are in their favour, there are deadlines that will have to be respected.
“However, I believe that on the pitch the lads are demonstrating that they deserve a renewal, which they both would like.
If the decisions end up being different, we will respect them, and I’m confident the players will thank the club in any case.
Stefan has been at Inter for many years, Francesco for a bit less, but both have experienced many successes and emotions. These are decisions that belong to Inter, and we will approach them with calmness.”
Pastorello was also asked for his opinion on the title race, with Inter currently sitting three points clear of Napoli and six ahead of Atalanta.
“For me, Inter started as the favourites and remain so. Beyond having the most complete squad, these are players who have been working together for many years, and the coach is brilliant.
“Inzaghi has managed to create a strong team spirit, and I must say they play really well. That said, it’s clear: we absolutely cannot rule out Napoli and Atalanta.
“Firstly, because the points gap is small, and secondly, because Inter’s schedule is very packed. The Nerazzurri are still in contention on all three fronts, so a few slip-ups are possible, and in my opinion, the league is not yet decided. It will be exciting until the very end,” he concluded.
Inter return to Serie A action when they take on Udinese at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Sunday.
